Across Canada, forestry towns have seen jobs vanish as logging becomes more mechanized and corporate-driven. Communities face rising costs, wildfire risks, and ecosystem damage, while large operators profit with little accountability.

Hemp grows in a single season, restores soil health, and can be made into paper, textiles, plastics, and fire-resistant building materials. Expanding hemp production could create jobs, use idle farmland, and ease pressure on old growth forests.

This isn’t about ending logging - wood is essential. But by diversifying with hemp, Canada can support rural economies, protect ecosystems, and keep more old growth forests standing.
